Shou Onoda (小野田 翔 Onoda Shou) is an idol under TSUKINO TALENT PRODUCTION. He is a member, and the leader, of the unit ROCK DOWN. His personal manager is Masafumi Yanai.

"ROCK DOWN’s leader. He’s a world renowned beautiful violinist who has been working to be a pro since he was young. Since he has lived in a very unique world, he’s a young man who sometimes loses himself in his own world and lacks a bit in common sense.
His straightforward words have a strange kind of strong power. In any case, he’s usually gentle but he has a childish innocence to him. He’s apparently good at being spoiled." [1]

Shou is a man of average height with collar length light gray hair with long bangs in front of his face and light gray eyes that are brown towards the top.
Personality[]
Shou is a graceful soul passionate about his music and cherishes his friends. He has a very pure and angelic demeanor that often charms others but he has his immature side.
Shou has been described as air-headed and someone who tends to get lost in his own world. He might appear very graceful and hard to approach on the surface, but in reality, he has a kind and lovely personality. [2]
Shou loves music a lot. Back when he was still focused on his work as a classical violinist, he was conscious about people paying attention to his looks. He wanted people to come to his concerts to enjoy his music, not him. But, after working as an idol, he’s slowly learning to be more open about using his looks to advertise his unit as well.[2][3][4]
He is very soft, but not completely delicate or weak. He is someone who is capable of many things, but chooses not to step too much out of his comfort zone. He is very determined and doesn’t know when to give up whenever there’s something he wants. Though he can be passionate, he usually does so in a very lowkey, and unnoticeable way. [5][6][7]
When Shou was younger, it was revealed that he had difficulty expressing his emotions. He admittedly called himself a “difficult to handle” child, and that he was quite moody. It wasn't until he was given a violin and learned how to appreciate music that he began to express his emotions more.[2]
And when he got to high school, he immersed himself in his own world that no other person wanted to talk to him. For a time, he closed himself off from the world and kept only to himself. It wasn’t until staying for a month in a certain country that he began opening up and being more friendly.[2][7]
He is not usually loud and he generally speaks with a gentle tone. He is prone to chuckling and giggling whenever he finds something he enjoys. He is a happy person most of the time and one who enjoys everything the world has to offer. He is sometimes curious and likes to try new things whenever possible. He also has a very vivid (sometimes wild) imagination, according to some of their members.[8][9][10][11]
Since he looks very elegant and has been called a “rich kid,” people often mistake him for having expensive tastes. However, Shou himself has mentioned that he has quite an ordinary taste in things. Shou has also said before that he also doesn’t have a lot of things he particularly loves or hates.[2][3][6][7]
He’s the type who tends to get hooked on or fixated about certain hobbies as well. He is easily impressed by new and unusual things, too. He genuinely enjoys learning new things and being a part of activities with his members. He is known for being quick to play along with the others whenever they’re joking around as well.[5][7][8]
Shou is very weak when it comes to mornings and waking him up almost always requires Haruto’s assistance. Other ROCK DOWN members have tried waking him up on time, but none have succeeded as much as Haruto. [2][3][9]
Shou is a generally polite person who shows respect even to the members younger than himself. But, he prefers it when people speak to him casually. He doesn’t try to overstep boundaries, and he always tries to give consideration to the others whenever possible.[3]
He also quite likes being witness to a lot of strange and unusual happenings since he finds them enjoyable. Shou has his own weird tendencies and behaviors, but he’s not exactly aware that they’re weird. He can be a bit clumsy, too. [2][5][6][7]
He is very supportive towards his members, and is ready to lend them an ear when needed. He also adores animals and dotes on Vaz and Rock whenever he can.[2][6][8]
Although he enjoys being with his members, there’s a part of him that likes to keep his life private. He has mentioned that he has not invited even his other members into his room before. He was worried that it made him sound cold, but Issa (VAZZY) assured him that it’s perfectly normal. [7]
Still, he remains friendly with everyone. As time goes by, he’s learning to be more comfortable about being more open with the others.

Prior to joining the VAZZROCK Project, Shou worked as a classical violinist. He’s traveled around the world and has stayed long-term in certain countries as well. Shou still holds classical concerts since he continues to work as a violinist on top of being an idol.[2][8]

He has been focusing more on unit activities, but continues his work as a violinist. Not much has been revealed about the type of works he participates in. [2][3][7]

Haruto Kujikawa – Haruto is easily Shou’s closest friend. Shou feels the most comfortable around Haruto as well. Shou has said that he knew they would get along the moment they met. [2]
Personality-wise, a lot of people found it hard to believe that they would get along, but it turns out that they complement each other very well. [8]
Haruto respects Shou greatly both as a person and as a leader. Still, he’s not one to shy away from lecturing Shou whenever the latter does something dangerous. Haruto is the person who succeeds the most whenever it comes to waking Shou up, and it seems like he’s mastered the art of doing it. He’s gotten so good that Issa refers to him as “Warrior Clock.” [5][6][7]
Haruto is quick to go along with some of Shou’s whims even though he doesn’t completely understand them at first. Shou on the other hand, plays along with a lot of Haruto’s jokes and wild tendencies, too. Shou enjoys seeing Haruto happy and playful and vice-versa.[5][6]
Haruto loves the music Shou plays, and he has learned to love classical music more because of him. Shou appreciates it as well and says that having Haruto accompany him to recitals was part of his “plan” to make Haruto enjoy more classical music.[2]
Because Haruto greatly admires Shou for his talents as a violinist, he gets concerned whenever Shou does things that can injure his hands in any way. This is one reason why Haruto does not allow Shou to hold a knife or to help out in the kitchen. That, and because Shou is generally inexperienced with cooking.[4][12]
Shou greatly appreciates Haruto’s friendship and has said before that “Haruto feels like home.” As a way to show Haruto his appreciation, Shou holds private violin concerts for him. Shou vividly remembers the day he and Haruto first met, too.[2][7]
They’re very comfortable around each other to the point that they joke around and then talk about serious and deep topics without problem. They felt a certain kindred spiritship with each other, and have been each other’s closest confidants ever since.[2][6]
Reiji Amaha – Since Reiji is very confident and sure of himself, Shou feels comfortable about teasing him. He knows that Reiji won’t take it to heart and that he’d play along.
Shou respects Reiji a lot, but is prone to joking with him about a lot of things. Reiji usually doesn’t mind because he likes seeing Shou acting playful. Shou also thinks that Reiji is ROCK DOWN’s “sexy representative.” [7][8]
Reiji admires Shou for his skills and talents as a leader and as a musician. He also admires him for his talent for being able to handle (and tolerate) five individualistic people. Although Reiji teases Shou sometimes, he never means anything bad by it.[6][7]
Reiji has gifted Shou with a small cactus that “looks like it’s running away,” so Shou promptly named it after Reiji.[2]
Ayumu Tachibana – Shou is very aware of Ayumu’s natural disposition, so he has shown great concern over Ayumu’s well-being from time to time. Even though he gets worried about Ayumu, Shou never really tries to stop him unless it’s dangerous because he’s aware of Ayumu’s persistence.
Ayumu on the other hand, admires Shou and looks up to him a lot as their leader. He seeks Shou for advice whenever he can, and Shou is always happy to be able to help Ayumu out. Shou is aware of Ayumu’s initially rocky relationship with Reiji, so he tries his best to mediate between them sometimes.[8]
As time went by, the two of them have gotten closer and more comfortable around each other.[6][8]
Gaku Oguro – Gaku and Shou get along fairly well. Since Gaku has a really motherly personality, he likes to watch over the other members. Though, Gaku hasn’t had much success when it comes to waking Shou up on time in the morning.[6][8]
Shou admires Gaku’s many skills and talents not just an actor but as a person. He is amazed by Gaku’s cooking prowess and has even requested Gaku to make some special dishes. Gaku enjoys Shou’s company and is always willing to lend their leader a hand when needed.[5][6][8][13]
Ruka Nadumi – Ruka enjoys Shou’s company a lot and is always trying to get his leader to play along with a lot of things. Shou finds Ruka’s energy cute and is always seen to enjoy Ruka’s sudden outbursts.[6][8]
Shou admires Ruka as an actor and is amazed whenever he sees Ruka so immersed in a role. He does enjoy witnessing a lot of the strange behavior Ruka exhibits whenever it happens though. He has once expressed disappointment at not being able to see Ruka act live much.[2][5][11]
Ruka likes and enjoys hanging out with Shou as well. He looks up to Shou as a leader and is always willing to help out with anything he can. Though he likes teasing Shou sometimes, it’s always done with a playful manner and is never anything hurtful.[5][10]
VAZZY[]
Takaaki Mamiya – Seeing as how they’re both leaders, Shou and Takaaki have a certain kind of understanding different from what they have with the other members. They confide in each other about their hardships as leaders as well.[6][9]
Takaaki and Shou are very friendly with each other. They respect and admire each other greatly, too. Shou believes that Takaaki is brilliant as a leader and has expressed that he wants to be a little bit more like him. They have a certain kind of rivalry with each other as well, but it’s all friendly.[9]
They’re both quick to offer each other help whenever it’s needed.
Ouka Kira – Shou and Ouka have been revealed to talk a lot off-screen. They get along pretty well and even gossip with each other sometimes. Shou has mentioned that their topic of conversation most of the time is Takaaki.[9]
They both operate on the same wavelength and express interest in a lot of similar things. Though Ouka can be shy around certain types of people, he feels strangely comfortable around Shou.[4][6]
Issa Kiduku – Though it has been mentioned that they look like they wouldn’t get along, Issa and Shou surprisingly do. Issa has expressed interest in getting to know Shou better and vice versa. Issa is able to understand Shou and his peculiarity to an extent, and is even able to joke around with him at some point. Shou and Issa share the same feelings about the importance of wanting privacy as well.
Issa seemed to enjoy seeing new sides to Shou and to figuring more out about his likes and dislikes. Issa and Shou agree on a lot of things and they both enjoy teasing Reiji. Issa treats Shou with respect considering that Shou is ROCK DOWN’s leader.
Shou on the other hand enjoys Issa’s company and was quick to understand his troubles. They are both very sympathetic to each other.
Issa, too, has been one of the people who have been shown to struggle with waking Shou up in the morning.[6][7][13]
Naosuke Oyama – While they have only been shown to interact a little here and there, Shou is shown to adore Naosuke. Since Naosuke’s very young, Shou admires his vitality and his willingness to learn. Naosuke looks up to Shou a lot and seeks him for advice whenever possible. Shou adores his juniors a lot and believes that Naosuke has a lot of potential to grow and make it big in the industry someday.[6][13]
Yuma Shirase – They formally met each other when Haruto asked Yuma to go wake Shou up one day. Yuma agreed and promised Haruto that he would do his best, but he was not aware of how difficult it would be. Still, he managed to succeed somehow and ever since then, the both of them have been on quite friendly terms.[3]
Yuma is generally very respectful towards Shou and admires his work as a classical violinist. Yuma has expressed interest in hearing Shou perform live. Ever since their first meeting, it has been revealed that Yuma goes to Shou’s recitals whenever he has time. Yuma refuses to accept VIP tickets from Shou, however, saying that he wants to buy tickets by himself. He didn’t want to be given special treatment because it would be unfair to the other audience members.[3][14][15]
Shou appreciates Yuma’s love for music. He has said that he wanted to try playing a duet piece with Yuma on the piano as well. They do eventually play a duet piece together, but Yuma says he still has much to learn. Shou enjoyed it a lot though.[14]
Shou adores the younger members a lot and is always trying his best to be of help to them whenever possible.[3]

Etymology[]
- The first character of his surname (小) means "small", while the second kanji (野) means "plains, field".
- The first character of Shou's name (田) means "rice or paddy field", while the second kanji (翔) means "soar, fly".

- During a segment on the various TSUKINO Twitter accounts where listeners voted on character & song images on a four way axis with MILD & WILD on one scale, and SEXY & CUTE on the other, Shou's image was voted as being a fairly even mix of MILD & SEXY, with MILD very slightly being his dominant trait.[17]
- Shou has a sweet tooth. He doesn’t take his coffee black and always requests to have a lot of sugar and milk in it.[3] [7]
- Shou is not willing to find out if he’s really strong or weak against alcohol. The most glasses of wine he can drink is three.[9]
- Haruto has warned others to only let Shou eat and not to let him serve food for reasons yet to be elaborated.[9]
