Makoto comes from the Kumamoto prefecture of Japan, on the southern island of Kyushu. He first became interested in being a voice actor at 5 years old when he watched "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing"; he eventually debuted as a seiyuu in 2011 under Space Craft Entertainment.
Furukawa later left his agency and became a freelancer in late 2018 before eventually joining his current agency, Toy's Factory, in December of the same year.
In addition to his musical work as a voice actor, he has released several singles and an album as a solo artist since his debut as a singer under Lantis in 2018; including a single that served as the ending theme to an anime he stars in. He also used to work part-time as a motion capture actor for Playstation when he first debuted in the voice acting industry.
