Futaba Kiduku (築 二葉 Kidzuku Futaba) is an idol under TSUKINO TALENT PRODUCTION. He is a member of the unit VAZZY and is the younger brother of his band-mate, Issa Kiduku.

"A pretty straightforward man who gets swayed by his older brother Issa Kiduku a lot. He’s the little puppy type who’s exceedingly warm and positive.

He is pretty thick-headed, a bit of a natural airhead with a mental fortitude strong enough to be able to smile despite being unknowingly abused.

He thinks himself unreliable but, there are a lot of people who continuously rely on him."

Appearance

Futaba is a tall young man with light yellow eyes and short, spiky light brown hair. Despite being brothers, he and Issa do not look particularly alike and don't seem to share any physical similarities.

Personality

Futaba is an optimistic man who dislikes conflict. He is his brother's keeper and tries to keep him satisfied and/or out of trouble. He is a bit of an airhead but possesses guardian-like skills (such as cooking and a strong will). He often doesn't give himself as much credit as he deserves.

Futaba is a very nice young man with an equally caring personality. He is very understanding and generally tends to be a peacemaker when things in the unit go wild. He is very doting towards the younger members of the group, but is very respectful when it comes to his seniors. He is very helpful and will never turn a blind eye to those who need help especially if he knows he can offer assistance. Futaba is a very affectionate person, but isn’t afraid to be tenacious if necessary.

Because he is the younger one out of the Kiduku brothers, he tends to spoil Nao and Yuma a lot and look over them as if they were his own younger brothers. Issa tends to bully him a lot, but Futaba assures that it’s normal for Issa to do and that he’s used to it. Even though he originally seemed like a simple yes-man towards Issa, Futaba knows how to stand up for himself—even disobeying Issa or straight up not listening to him.

He seems meek and timid, but he is very straightforward and can be blunt if he has to be. Other characters have mentioned that Futaba has a strong mentality and cannot be swayed easily when he sets his mind on something. He’s also the type who’s not easily embarrassed.

Despite his calm and reassuring attitude, there are a lot of times where Futaba feels insecure about work. He has consulted with senior members like Takaaki, Reiji, and Gaku regarding work. He is afraid of being a hindrance when it comes to official business, so as much as possible, he tries to do things in the best way he knows how. He has a very high sense of professionalism and perfectionism, but is still very humble and tries his best to learn more from his seniors. He doesn’t have much confidence in himself and believes that he hasn’t shown what he’s capable of yet.

He is a happy-go-lucky guy most of the time and one who is always smiling. He is very selfless and prioritizes others over himself.

History

Prior to joining TSUKIPRO, Futaba had no experience whatsoever in the entertainment industry. He was doing odd jobs here and there (like working for a moving company). He first started joining dancing and singing lessons when he accepted to join the VAZZROCK Project.

Futaba has started appearing in supporting roles in dramas together with some of the other VAZZROCK members (i.e. Gaku). He has also been asked to guest in commercials from time to time.

Issa Kiduku - Issa is Futaba’s older brother, and one that he admires a lot. Futaba finds it an honor to be compared to Issa in any way. At first glance, it seems like Issa bullies and orders Futaba around a lot, treating him like a lackey. But despite the tough façade, Issa is shown to really care for his brother. Futaba once pretended that he wasn’t feeling sick just so Issa could enjoy their family day out at the theme park. Issa got mad and cried for Futaba because he thought that Futaba was going to die.

He has shown support for Futaba behind-the-scenes and will do anything to help his brother gain confidence in himself when it comes to being in the industry. It’s been hinted that Issa has used some of his industry connections to help Futaba. Issa is jealous of the fact that Futaba is taller than him, though.

Futaba dotes on Issa sometimes, but knows when to stop patronizing his older brother. Futaba doesn’t mind being reprimanded by Issa especially with work, but wishes that Issa would be nicer to their other juniors like Nao and Yuma. Futaba has also learned how to tease Issa.

Futaba rarely meddles with Issa’s affairs, but when he does, it’s for a good reason.

Futaba respects Issa as an idol and considers him a sort of rival in his own rights. He asks Issa for advice a lot (which Issa gives in a very blunt manner). Whenever Futaba has concerns regarding the industry, the first person he seeks for advice is Issa. 

Takaaki Mamiya - Futaba respects Takaaki a lot both as a person and as VAZZY’s leader. He admires Takaaki’s work in the industry and has thought of him as a role model. Takaaki is very kind towards Futaba and treats him like a son jokingly from time to time. Futaba is not afraid to ask Takaaki for advice and Takaaki is always willing to help.

They both enjoy cooking as a hobby, so they exchange recipes from time to time as well. Takaaki really admires Futaba’s optimism and kindness. Futaba has voiced concern before that people were only noticing him and offering him jobs because he’s in the same unit as Takaaki, but he has never shown hostility or jealousy towards Takaaki regarding the matter.

Futaba refers to Takaaki as “Takaaki-san” while Takaaki calls Futaba by his first name.

Ouka Kira - Prior to joining TSUKIPRO, Futaba looked up to Ouka as a model and as a talent. Ouka was the first person that Futaba became close to when he joined the VAZZROCK Project. Ouka found him strange at first but quickly warmed up to him when he saw that Futaba had no ill intentions and was just a generally well-meaning person.

Futaba has often asked Ouka for advice regarding modeling jobs, and Ouka is always willing to help. Ouka has voiced concern over how Issa treats Futaba, which just fuelled their slight hostility towards each other. Futaba is grateful for the concern, but reassures Ouka that Issa isn’t as mean as he makes him out to be.

They are on a first name basis and call each other “Futaba” and “Ouka” respectively.

Naosuke Oyama - Like Futaba, Nao has no experience in the industry and so they understand each other in more ways than one. Nao looks up to Futaba and admires his looks, height, and talent a lot. Futaba on the other hand, looks over Nao and dotes on him like he would towards a younger brother. Nao is very loud and affectionate when it comes to Futaba and is not afraid to voice things he admires about him. Futaba is very quick to come to Nao’s defense whenever Issa’s being teasing or being mean towards the younger member.

Futaba is very well aware of Nao’s complex towards his name, so he calls him by his preferred nickname, much to the latter’s excitement.

Nao calls Futaba “Futaba-san” while Futaba calls him “Nao-kun.”

Yuma Shirase - Similar to Nao, Yuma has no experience in the industry. He looks up to Futaba a lot and consults him with problems he has regardless of whether it is about work or school. Futaba commends Yuma for his maturity and readiness to take on things that come his way. Yuma on the other hand looks up to Futaba and asks him for advice not limited to being in the industry (like when he consulted with Futaba about his college schedule). He also secretly admires Yuma’s reliability.

Futaba calls Yuma “Yuma-kun” while Yuma refers to him as “Futaba-san.”

ROCK DOWN

Shou Onoda - Shou and Futaba have interacted very little outside of a few tweets here and there and the live reading drama during VAZZROCK Festival, but from their little interactions, it is hinted that Futaba has a strong admiration for Shou both as a musician and as an idol.

Haruto Kujikawa - Haruto looks up to Futaba and praises his professionalism and ability in acting. They’re on friendly terms since Futaba can tease Haruto a little bit. Haruto is able to tell when Futaba is feeling down and is not hesitant to offer advice and reassurance. Futaba enjoys his company and sometimes asks for his advice, too. It has also been revealed that Haruto and Futaba lend each other clothes sometimes.

Futaba calls Haruto by first name, while Haruto refers to him as “Futaba-san.”

Reiji Amaha - Futaba greatly looks up to Reiji because of Reiji’s history in the industry. He considers him a very respected senior and admires his work a lot. Since Reiji has gotten more familiar with Issa, he’s started getting along with Futaba more as well. Futaba has consulted Reiji with a few concerns he had regarding work, which Reiji readily agreed to help him with. They both love cooking as a hobby.

Futaba refers to Reiji as “Reiji-san” while Reiji calls him “Futaba.”

Ayumu Tachibana - Futaba is very aware of Ayumu’s weak constitution and so he is quick to offer Ayumu his help if needed. Futaba is very gentle, understanding, and supportive of Ayumu, but he’s not afraid to reprimand him if Ayumu’s over-exerting himself physically. Ayumu on the other hand finds him very warm and welcoming and was quick to open up to him about his worries.

Futaba has made Ayumu a special get-well drink when he helped Ayumu after encountering him almost passed out on the way back to the dorms.

They are also on a first name basis.

Gaku Oguro - They have starred in a drama together as supporting characters, so they have a general idea about how the other works. Gaku admires Futaba for being very focused and being able to captivate people with his acting. When Futaba felt down about making a mistake at work, Gaku was the first to notice that something was off. Gaku offered Futaba advice to help make him feel better. They also enjoy cooking as a hobby.

They are on a first name basis, referring to each other as “Futaba” and “Gaku” respectively.

Ruka Nadumi - They haven’t interacted much in canon aside from a few official tweets here and there, but they are on friendly terms. Ruka is very energetic and has teased Futaba on a few occasions.

Etymology

• The name Futaba means "two" (二) (futa) and "leaf" (葉) (ha/ba).
• His surname Kiduku means "fabricate, build, construct" (築).

Trivia

• Kakeru Shiwasu (Six Gravity) once hugged Futaba out of the blue and admired his muscles.
• He's a member of Yoru Nagatsuki's (Procellarum) “Setsubun Cheering Community.”
• Futaba is proud of the fact that he’s celebrated Issa's birthday with him every year.
